The Blue Star is a classic piece of kit these days, thanks to its
price and performance that match the needs and the pocket of
most winter walkers.  The soft textured grip, good balance and
forged one-piece head add up to a great all-round axe.
There's a reasonable curve to the pick and a sharp curve to the
adze. But you don't get many teeth on the pick so it's not the
tool for steep snow and ice slopes.  The head isn't as classy as
a polished forged head, but it still feels okay in the hands, It's a
good solid basic walker's axe, but with the strength to ensure it's
tough enough for ice axe belays.
